Meet Afendi Kpedi, a passionate realtor in Texas, a devoted wife, and proud mom. Her journey into real estate isn’t just about selling houses - it’s about helping others find "home" in the deepest sense of the word. In this heartfelt conversation, Afendi shares how her personal story, faith, and commitment to intentional living shape every aspect of her work and life.

Who is Afendi Kpedi?
Honestly, I used to answer that with a list of titles.. wife, mom, realtor. And while those are beautiful parts of my life, they don’t define the whole of me. I’ve been learning, unlearning really that my identity isn’t rooted in what I do. It’s rooted in who I belong to.
I am, first and forever, a child of God.
That truth reshapes everything. I’m a living testimony of His rescue the girl pulled from a generational cycle of addiction. The one who has lived the scripture, “Though my mother and father forsake me, the Lord will take me in.” That verse is personal for me.
I believe life is about perspective. I choose to see through the lens of grace.
I am the girl people call to nice but I just believe in forgiveness not as a one-time act, but as a rhythm of the heart. I love to laugh. To sit by windows and dream. I journal not just to process, but to remember because I’ve watched God’s plans unfold, and in hindsight, they were good all along.
I crave depth. Connection that doesn’t rush past the real stuff.
I’m still healing, still rising. But I’ve also been set free. In this beautiful, messy journey, I get to be a wife to a man whose love calls me higher and Joshua’s mama, a role that humbles me daily. He is my tangible reminder of mercy and deliverance.
So who is Afendi?
I’m a daughter.
A vessel.
A voice.
A survivor.
A dreamer.
A woman becoming.
And becoming a Realtor has been part of that journey for nearly eight years. Back in 2019, God gave me a vision not just to help people buy homes, but to help them find a place where they feel seen, safe, and truly belong.
That vision came from my own story of being adopted. For the first time, I had a stable home, dinners around the table, real conversations with my mom simple things that changed everything for me. And now, it’s my honor to help others find that same sense of home.
What inspired you to pursue real estate?
My inspiration definitely goes back to my adoption experience. Growing up, I moved from apartment to apartment every year, and life didn’t feel stable. My sister and I spent a lot of time home alone because my grandmother worked two jobs just to provide for us.
When I was adopted and stepped into a true home for the first time, my world opened up. I realized there was so much more to life. That experience planted the seed for my love of real estate - and helping others find not just a house, but a place where they can feel safe, loved, and at home.
Another fun fact is that my adopted mom is a realtor too! I used to ride along with her to showings, and I would imagine myself doing the same thing one day. Now, that dream is reality.
How is your faith connected to your purpose?
My faith is the absolute foundation of everything I do. I believe God often gives us visions long before they are meant to come to pass. He gave me this dream in 2019, but it’s just now, in 2025, that I’m fully stepping into it.
I don't like to do anything - business, relationships, life - without Christ at the center. That’s what truly sets me apart as a realtor. From the beginning, I’m clear with my clients: I’m here to be a resource, but I’m also a woman of faith. I pray over my clients and trust God for their next chapter.
Even the brokerage I chose is faith-based. My broker is bold about her love for Christ, and they incorporate things like daily prayer calls and prayer before meetings. Little reminders like that affirm to me that God is with me on this journey.
What does it mean to “Be Intentional?”
To me, being intentional means paying attention to what most people easily overlook. In my home life, it looks like carving out time to meet with God in the morning to gain clarity before the day begins. It’s about showing up intentionally as a wife and mom.
In business, intentionality means going the extra mile. Right now, I’m putting systems and processes into place so my clients feel fully supported and educated from start to finish. I want them to look back and feel like I helped them understand what the journey was going to look like and educate them in the areas where they needed more insight. I want them to walk away feeling confident and cared for, not lost in the process.
Why is it important to live intentionally in your field?
Intentionality brings purpose to everything we do. If you aren't intentional, you're kind of just going with the flow. As a wife and mom, I know God entrusted me with my family, and I don’t take that lightly. My son won’t be one forever, and time goes by so fast. I want to soak up every moment.
Having lived through a childhood of instability, I see my family as a gift from God - something I never want to take for granted.
In business, intentionality is critical because I’m in a people-focused industry. I care about the experience people have with me. As my broker often says, “Work for the referral tomorrow, not just the transaction today.” I want my clients to feel served, seen, and loved - and, ultimately, to see the hand of God moving in their home-buying journey.
What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
To be honest, I didn't start valuing routines until I got married and became a mom. Before that, I pretty much took the day as it came. But with marriage and motherhood, I quickly realized I needed structure. You need to check in with yourself, check in with God, and see where your heart and mind are, or else you’ll feel overwhelmed jumping straight into serving everyone else while neglecting yourself.
Now, I try to wake up before everyone else to carve out some quiet time. Even if I can’t sit down to physically read my Bible, I’ll play it audibly while I get ready - showering, brushing my teeth, and getting dressed. I believe that cliché: when you look good, you feel good.
I’m also a tea girl! While most people reach for coffee, a good cup of tea brings me peace and helps me start the day calmly. If I have extra time, journaling helps too, because I'm naturally a writer. Having small things to look forward to, like my morning tea, really makes a difference.
For anyone struggling to become a morning person: find something you genuinely look forward to when you wake up. Once you're up, you're up - and you really do see the benefits of that time. It hurts to get up at first, but once you do all the things you set out to do, you don’t regret it. It’s just like working out: you dread it, it hurts during, but after, you’re proud of yourself.
What is one thing you are being intentional about in your life right now?
Right now, I'm being deeply intentional about setting healthy boundaries in my life. Recently, I had to have some tough conversations with family and friends about guarding my most productive hours. I asked for no calls before noon so I could focus on studying and working toward my real estate goals.
Setting boundaries has been hard for me because I struggled with people-pleasing. But I’m learning that it’s necessary to become the best version of myself.
I’m also learning to throw out the idea of “work-life balance.” Inspired by Barbara Corcoran’s advice, I’m trying to separate my day into dedicated blocks: mornings for family, afternoons for focused work, and evenings back for family time. It’s not about perfect balance every day; it’s about being fully present wherever I am.
What advice would you give to the woman who feels overwhelmed trying to show up well in their work and home?
I know that feeling all too well - feeling lost in the sauce. You know what you should do, but some days, you struggle just to show up.
The truth is, as often as we hear it, you have to take one day at a time. Work on one thing at a time. Practically ask yourself: what's one thing I can work on right now and get good at? Then just focus on that.
We get overwhelmed because we think about all the areas we need to grow and all the things we want to do better. It's too much at once. But life is a journey, and we’ll never be perfect. There will always be something to work on. Once you accept that, it gets easier.
I love the quote: "If you become 1% better each day, you’re doing great." So if you didn't work out yesterday but you do today, you did a good job. If you spent too much time on your phone yesterday but today you’re more present, you did better. Small changes, one day at a time.
And don't forget: live your life. Have fun. Remember to laugh and do something new.
So I would ask anyone reading this blog: when’s the last time you did something new that made you feel alive? Go do that.
